Library of Thread is a slow fashion, sustainable hand embroidery label founded in the heart of Manchester.

Our inspiration comes from the 1960s San Francisco Bay Area. People here, at this time, would extend the use of their clothing by embellishing them with hand embroidery, so they could share their messages of love and happiness with the world, as well as recording their thoughts and experiences, with needle and thread, into their clothing to create what was almost a wearable diary.

In a world of fast, disposable fashion, Library of Thread creates hand embroidered pieces that are unique to their wearer, like they were back in the 1960s Bay Area, that can be cherished and adored for years to come.

All of our beautiful designs are hand-drawn before being hand embroidered on to a range of t-shirts, totes and accessories.
